Villar offers a great combination of power and speed along with a batting average that won't kill you most years - he's a career. 258 hitter.
Through 33 games this year, Villar is slashing .225/.310/.382 with three home runs, three doubles, three stolen bases, 11 RBI and 11 runs. Over his past seven games, he's recorded two of his three home runs on the year as well as two of his three stolen bases. He also has five runs scored over the seven-game stretch.
Villar's triple eligibility adds to his value even more, especially in deep leagues. His versatility gives fantasy managers great insurance for multiple positions. J.D. Davis (hand) is nearing a return, but he'll likely cut into Jose Peraza's playing time more than Villar's. Jeff McNeil (hamstring) just landed on the injured list and that creates an additional opening at second base for Villar.
Add Villar if you need some infield depth or a boost in stolen bases in leagues of 12 teams or deeper. In more shallow leagues, he can remain on waivers.
