Jordan Reed (TE, SF) - Week 3 Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team PPR Leagues

ROSTERED: 6% of Leagues

ANALYSIS: When you have a stud at the tight end position such as San Francisco does (George Kittle), you don't really care about the rest of the personnel there. Unless your starting weapon goes down injured, which is exactly what happened this weekend. With Kittle out of the field for good, it was all about new signing Jordan Reed. Reed missed 2019 himself thanks to concussion issues, but oh boy is it good to have him back.

Editor's Note: Our incredible team of writers received five total writing awards and 13 award nominations by the Fantasy Sports Writers Association, tops in the industry! Congrats to all the award winners and nominees including Best NFL Series, MLB Series, NBA Writer, PGA Writer and Player Notes writer of the year. In limited usage, in Week 1 Reed finished with two receptions on two targets for 12 yards. Although very efficient, that was just a middling performance for fantasy purposes (3.2 PPR). In Week 2, though, Reed was a fantasy monster. Targeted eight times (playing mostly under reserve-QB Nick Mullens), Reed caught seven passes (87.5% catch rate), led the team in targets and receptions (season-highs among 49ers through two weeks), racked up 50 yards, and scored a couple of touchdowns.

Only three other players from San Francisco have scored this season, and all are running backs. Reed needed all of seven catches to top their outings. Keep an eye on Kittle's status through the week before adding or starting Reed, but keep also in mind that nobody is going to risk a thing in terms of rushing players back from injury in 2020 after what is going on these days. San Francisco has already lost a bunch of players and it is not that they can afford not to have Kittle healthy going forward. Definitely a bonus and upside-booster for Reed entering Week 3.
