ANALYSIS: The sixth-round rookie out of Virginia Tech is officially worth a look if you're in desperate need of help at the running back position. He's a small back at 5'9" and 210 lbs, but he put up some impressive numbers in his final collegiate season: 1,183 rushing yards (7.6 yards per carry) and 10 receptions (17.9 yards per reception) with 10 total touchdowns. He posted subpar combine metrics and only has three touches this season, but opportunity is key in fantasy football and it's time for the rook to step up and produce.
Lead back David Montgomery is out for 4-5 weeks, and Herbert will likely only have Damien Williams ahead of him on the depth chart. Williams is a solid veteran and he'll get the majority of the workload, but he's dealing with an injury himself and isn't the most surefire, locked-in lead back in the world. The Bears don't want to pass much at all (30th in pass rate) and that means Herbert will be involved, at least to some degree. He's worthy of a speculative add in deeper leagues ahead of Week 5 against the Raiders.
