Kris Medlen's 2016 Prospects: What To Expect?

Kris Medlen has put together some decent stretches in his career, but he has also undergone two Tommy John surgeries and been forced to cut seasons short. Being able to have a constant routine is important, having a set role can lead to increased productivity and an easier mindset. Having the interruptions that Medlen has dealt with can really throw a wrench or five in things. Some reports have Medlen taking the fifth rotation spot over Chris Young, but this isn’t confirmed. While he doesn’t have dominant stuff, 2015 was still his first year back in action after that second TJ surgery and so he suffered from the typical elevated walk rate. He should have some more stability to him in 2016 depending on how clear his role is (starting vs. bullpen work), and while he won’t carry much mixed league value, in deeper AL-only leagues he could be quite the late round pick on a strong KC team that should give him good chances at wins if he does his part.
