BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 25% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Power-hitting outfielder Mark Trumbo seems to be regaining his form, and doing so in a hurry. For the season, Trumbo is hitting .268/.326/.476 with eight home runs, 22 RBI, and a .208 ISO - which are acceptable numbers considering he missed a good chunk of time to start the year. During the last seven games, however, he has been absolutely crushing the ball. Over that stretch, he's hitting .318/.375/.864 with four home runs, nine RBI, and five runs scored.
The appeal of Trumbo's fantasy profile clearly is and always will be his power, and digging in to his advanced hitting metrics makes it clear that he still has the same high home run ceiling he has displayed throughout his career (hit 22+ home runs in six of his seven MLB seasons, 47 home runs in 2016). Among qualified hitters with at least 100 batted ball events, Trumbo is 58th in Barrels/PA (7.3), 10th in Hard Hit % (51.7%), and 9th in Average Exit Velocity (93.7 MPH). Ranking that highly in Hard Hit % and Average Exit Velocity is especially encouraging, as it clearly displays that Trumbo still possesses his patented power bat. If his recent stretch of games and those advanced hitting metrics are to be trusted, Mark Trumbo could easily notch another 20+ homer season. Current projections agree, pegging him to finish with 24 home runs, 65 RBI, and 59 runs scored to go along with a .250/.305/.467 slash line. Add him if he's available in any 12+ team leagues, and start thinking about if you could use his home run production in 10-team league as well.
