ANALYSIS: Michael A. Taylor has yet to completely live up to the potential he offered in the minor leagues. In 2014, while at Double-A, Taylor hit .313 with 22 home runs and 34 stolen bases in 441 plate appearances. In his first three years in the majors Taylor struggled to make contact. He never hit above .231 and flailed at the bottom of the Nationals lineup.

He started to put it all together in the majors last season with a .271 average, 19 HR and 17 SB. This season he has come racing out the gates, quite literally, with nine steals in 95 PAs. Early this season, he was struggling with an average in the mid-.100s but recently he has started to come around. In the last week, he has taken his batting average from .182 to .224 and is starting to get hot.

With Adam Eaton on the disabled list, and Victor Robles having suffered an arm injury, Taylor’s place in the Nationals lineup is secure, for now. Additionally, in the last week he has hit his first two homers on the season, demonstrating that his bat is really starting to heat up. Taylor has the ability to put up 20/20 numbers in any given season and last year's performance shows he is capable of pulling his average up as well.
