Athletics @ Astros
More or Less Contest
Frankie Montas less than 5.5 strikeouts and Lance McCullers more than 5.5 strikeouts
Montas has a tough matchup on the road in this one against the Astros. Currently, Houston is only striking out at a rate of just 18% vs. right-handers over the previous 10 days, which is ranked third-best in baseball. They are also walking at a rate of 13.6%, which is ranked the best in baseball. Montas has walked eight in his last three starts, which could lead him into trouble in this one. He has also failed to reach this total in each of his previous two starts and has only struck out 27 through 33 2/3 innings pitched on the road this season.
McCullers will be facing an Athletics team that is striking out the 12th-most in baseball against right-handers over the previous 10 days and are walking at a rate of just 7.7%. McCullers has also gone over this total in each of his previous two starts and three of his previous five while also posting a 3.00 ERA and .165 BAA at home this season.

Yankees @ Mariners
More or Less Contest
Jordan Montgomery more than 5.5 strikeouts and Logan Gilbert more than 4.5 strikeouts
Monty gets a matchup vs. Seattle who is striking out at a rate of nearly 25% vs. left-handers over the previous 10 days, which is ranked 11th-worst in baseball. He has struck out over this total in four of his previous six games and has gone more than five innings pitched in five of his previous six starts. If he can hold this offense down long enough, he should be able to get over the total.
Gilbert has reached this total in five of his previous six starts and will be facing a Yankees squad that is striking out at a rate of 22.2%, which is ranked in the middle of the pack over the previous 10 days. Gilbert has looked extremely sharp lately as well as he has allowed two earned runs or less in five of his previous six starts.

Phillies @ Cubs
More or Less Contest
Adbert Alzolay less than 5.5 strikeouts and Zach Eflin more than 4.5 strikeouts
Alzolay has only gone over this total once in his previous four starts and he has a tough matchup against the Phillies in this one. Currently. the Phillies are posting a K rate of just 20.2% against right-handers over the previous 10 days, which is ranked eighth-best in baseball. They are also posting a respectable walk rate of 9.9% and are posting a wRC+ mark of 136, which is ranked third-best in baseball. Their offense looks like it might be too much for Alzolay to be able to get over the total in this one.
Eflin's number is too low here and will almost certainly rise before the game starts. He has failed to reach this total in three of his previous four starts, but those starts were not against teams that strike out like the Cubs. Over the previous 10 days, the Cubs are striking out the second-most in baseball against right-handed pitchers with a rate of 28.9%. They are also struggling to score as noted by their 77 wRC+ mark, and they were on an 11-game losing streak up until last night's victory. They are a beaten team and Eflin should be able to get over the hump in this one.
