NHL DFS Analysis and Picks for 12/14/21
Unfortunately, the puck bouncing is coming to a minimum with the recent COVID-19 bouts rolling through the league. Both Ottawa and St. Louis have been hit by it plus injuries and now Calgary. Make sure that you are constantly following up to puck drop with possible last-minute injuries/COVID results. Fourteen games starting at 7 p.m. EST and there are a few standouts for positive matchups.
We have nobody on the second-half of a back-to-back thanks to Calgary’s game getting postponed. The Senators waltz in with the league's worst goals against (3.7) hosting the Panthers while the Avalanche will look to weaponize their league-best offense (4.3) when they host the Rangers of New York.
NHL DFS Goalies
Sergei Bobrovsky- DK $7.2K || FD $8K
Opponent - Ottawa Senators
Bob has not been stellar as of late, however, in his last three appearances he has faced the Avalanche and the Blues who he conceded only three goals each. Now he gets to play at home once more against the struggling Senators who are the ninth-worst team in the league when it comes to scoring goals. At a very questionable $7.2K, it is extremely hard to pass up a decent favorite.
Others To Consider (Cash/GPP): Jarry(DK $8.5K || FD $8.4K), Vasilevskiy(DK $8.2K || FD $8.6K), Demko(DK $8K || FD $7.4K), Hart(DK $7.8K || FD $7.9K), Talbot(DK $7.8K || FD $7.3K)
NHL DFS Centers
Centers
Matthew Barzal-DK $5.9K || FD $6.1K
Opponent - Detroit Red Wings
The top-line pivot for the Islanders has been going undetected for a few matches now after his lull of a season thus far. Over his last five appearances, he has a 0-8-8 line with nine shots. Ever since Anders Lee returned to his side, Barzal has looked much different. It isn’t the nicest salary for him, but it could be worse!
Jordan Staal- DK $2.8K || FD $3.7K
Opponent - Minnesota Wild
Welcome back for another issue of the Staal. Top-line centerman Sebastian Aho is out for the foreseeable future and that has called Staal to the forefront. At minimum salary and two speedy wingers at his side, it is very hard for him not to hit value.
Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): MacKinnon(DK $9.5K || FD 10K), Crosby(DK $7.5K || FD $7.2K), Hartman(DK $6.3K || FD $6.4K), Dubois(DK $6K || FD $6.5K), Giroux(DK $4.8K || FD $5.9K), Lundell(DK $3.8K || FD $5K), Karlsson(DK $3.7K || FD $4.7K)
NHL DFS Wings
Wings
Andre Burakovsky- DK $4K || FD $5.5K
Opponent - New York Rangers
Guess what?! Burakovsky’s salary has only seen a $200 bump! That is all after he posted a hat trick a game ago! Hopefully, everyone read the article then and hopefully, you read it now. This is insanity at its finest and there is no reason to not lock him into your lineups. Since Landeskog got hurt – two games ago –, Burakovsky has a 5-0-5 line and 10 shots.
Kasperi Kapanen- DK $3.4K || FD $4K
Opponent - Montreal Canadiens
With the plethora of injuries occurring through the league right now, the Penguins have been hit once again and this will be Kapanen’s third appearance alongside Sidney Crosby since Jake Guentzel went down. Many Penguins fans alike have been curious what this combination could do and now we all get to witness it together along with a cheap salary and a plus matchup.
Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Marchand(DK $7.6K || FD $8.9K), Connor(DK $7.4K || FD $9K), Rodriguez(DK $5.6K || FD $5.7K), Bratt(DK $5.4K || FD $6.2K), Lee(DK $4.9K || FD $5.1K), Zuccarello(DK $4.8K || FD $6.3K), Atkinson(DK $3.8K || FD $5.4K)
NHL DFS Defensemen
Defense
Jared Spurgeon- DK $4.1K || FD $4.8K
Opponent - Carolina Hurricanes
The Canes are down in out with multiple injuries to both the blue line and also the top-six with Sebastian Aho and Seth Jarvis to be the most recent casualties. In steps the Wild and their impressive power-play. Now that Spurgeon is back and healthy, he is manning the top pair for the Wild and also quarterbacking their top power-play. For under $5K and a very promising ceiling, this is not too shabby of a jump.
Keith Yandle- DK $3.2K || FD $4.4K
Opponent - New Jersey Devils
With the insane amount of high-salaried players at both center and wing, we may have to double “punt” at defense. We welcome you Keith Yandle 2.0. It took a game or two for Yeo to influence the play and mentality of the Flyers, but things are starting to look up…somewhat. Their power-play is certainly one of them and Yandle happens to quarterback the first unit. For a solid salary with decent upside against a struggling Devils team, this is looking to be a great play.
Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Nurse(DK $6.9K || FD $6.4K), Pietrangelo(DK $6.8K || FD $7.1K), Burns(DK $6.3K || FD $5.5K), Trouba(DK $5.2K || FD $5.6K), Morrissey(DK $3.8K || FD $4K), Bean(DK $3.2K || FD $4.3K)
