BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 16% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Paul Sewald had known only misery in his previous four MLB seasons, all of which came with the Mets, but now that he's had a change of scenery to Seattle, the 31-year-old Las Vegas native seems to have finally found his big league stride. In 25.2 IP for the Mariners in 2021, Sewald has accumulated a 1.40 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, 1.03 FIP, a 5-2 record, two saves, and seven holds. setting himself apart as one of the key contributors out of the Seattle bullpen.
Sewald's walk rate might be at a much higher point than he was used to with the Mets, but his strikeout rate has nearly doubled to 42.7% this season, while his allowed hard hit rate of 31.3% and average exit velocity of just 84.1 MPH on batted balls helps to explain how the former tenth-round pick has avoided allowing a single home run on the year. With a superb strikeout rate and successful results across the board in high-leverage innings, Paul Sewald is an excellent bullpen addition in moderate-sized leagues.
