49ers Re-Sign Jason Verrett To One-Year Deal
3 years agoThe San Francisco 49ers re-signed cornerback Jason Verrett to an undisclosed one-year deal on Monday. He has appeared in 15 games (14 starts) over the last three seasons and has 65 tackles, seven passes defensed and two interceptions since signing as a free agent in March of 2019. The former first-rounder of the Los Angeles Chargers in 2014 has been devastated by injuries in his career, playing in just 25 games for the Bolts in his six seasons with the team. Verrett was a Pro Bowler in 2015 with the Chargers, when he finished with 47 tackles, 11 passes defensed and three interceptions (one for a touchdown) in 14 games (13 starts). If Verrett can stay healthy, he'll be a nice asset for San Francisco's secondary in both coverage and against the run.
