49ers Release Nate Sudfeld
2 years agoThe San Francisco 49ers decided to release veteran quarterback Nate Sudfeld and retain rookie Brock Purdy on the team's 53-man roster. The 49ers are fully committed to Trey Lance as their starting signal-caller entering the 2022 regular season, and against all odds they've brought Jimmy Garoppolo back on a restructured one-year deal to back Lance up. Purdy will be the No. 3 with Sudfeld off the roster. Sudfeld, a former sixth-round pick in 2016 by the Washington Commanders, didn't get on the field at all for San Francisco last year. In his three NFL seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, Sudfeld went 25-for-37 for 188 yards, one touchdown and one interception.
