49ers Release Tashaun Gipson
2 years agoThe San Francisco 49ers released veteran safety Tashaun Gipson on Tuesday, according to a source. Gipson signed a one-year deal with the Niners just a week ago, but he won't make it onto the initial 53-man roster. The 32-year-old operated as a starter for the Chicago Bears the last two years, putting up 81 solo tackles, one sack, four interceptions, 10 passes defensed and two fumble recoveries in 28 games started. He was a Pro Bowler back in 2014 with the Cleveland Browns, and Gipson has recorded a healthy 563 tackles (408 solo), 27 interceptions (three for touchdowns) and 57 passes defensed in his 10 NFL seasons with four different teams. There's a good chance he'll latch on elsewhere as secondary depth.
