3 years agoSan Francisco 49ers quarterback Trey Lance is believed by many to be the team's starter this season. However, according to NFL reporter Matt Lombardo, the Niners' staff has reportedly been "underwhelmed" by him. There have also been consistent rumblings regarding the 2021 No. 3 overall pick's lack of development, so it seems that his role could change heading into the 2022-23 campaign. The scenario becomes even more intriguing with Jimmy Garoppolo (shoulder) remaining on the roster. Garoppolo had surgery on his throwing shoulder in March, and while it was widely believed the signal-caller would have been gone by now, many teams weren't looking to make a move for a player who may be out until training camp.
