49ers Still Committed To Trey Lance As The Starter In 2022
3 years agoSan Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo will start the team's wild-card game on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys, but the Niners are still committed to first-round rookie Trey Lance as their starter heading into next season. It means that they are expected to explore trade options for Garoppolo, who will need surgery on his right thumb after the season. Lance was up and down in his two starts this year, going 31-for-52 for 441 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions while carrying the ball 27 times for 124 additional yards on the ground. Lance will have his growing pains as the full-time starter next year, but his dual-threat abilities and elite arm strength will make him an intriguing QB2 with upside for more. Those that roster Lance in dynasty/keeper leagues should be excited about his future ceiling.
