49ers Defense A Top Option In Week 1
2 years agoThe San Francisco 49ers defensive and special teams unit has a favorable matchup against a Chicago Bears offense that should struggle to move the ball. Last season, the Bears ranked 27th in points scored and 24th in total yards. Their weak offensive line allowed their quarterback to be sacked 58 times, the most in the NFL. The 49ers sacked Bears QB Justin Fields four times when they faced him last season. The Bears offense hasn't done much to improve. Their offensive line strength comes in 31st out of 32 teams in PFF's preseason rankings. Their receiving core is dead last, after the departure of Allen Robinson II in the offseason. Fields might take a step up this season, but without weapons or protection, he can't do it all by himself. The 49ers DST is a strong choice for starting or streaming in a matchup that should give them the chance to create turnovers and make plays.
