6 years agoThe San Francisco 49ers worked out seven free-agent quarterbacks Tuesday, including veterans Landry Jones, E.J. Manuel, Kellen Clemens, Tom Savage and T.J. Yates. The two other participants were Matt Simms and Kyle Allen. Whoever the Niners decide to sign will backup second-year quarterback C.J. Beathard as he takes the reins following Jimmy Garoppolo’s season-ending knee injury. Of the bunch, Jones holds the best QB rating of 86.2 but has only tallied 1,310 yards, eight touchdowns and seven interceptions in three seasons behind Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. Unless he performs miserably, Beathard will likely remain the starter indefinitely. With these players only being evaluated for roster depth, they hold no fantasy relevance.--Andrew Le - RotoBaller
