6 years agoGreen Bay running back Aaron Jones ran the ball only eight times in a Week 6 win over the San Francisco 49ers on Monday night. He ran for 41 yards, averaging 5.1 yards per carry. The dynamic runner led the team in carries but still saw only a small number of snaps as many went to fellow running backs Ty Montgomery and Jamaal Williams. There has been frustration about his low workload considering his talent. Coach Mike McCarthy clearly does not know what to do with him. McCarthy wants to throw the ball frequently and is concerned about Jones pass protection ability. This was mitigated early in the game with a lot of play action with Jones. The play action was successful early but the 49ers quickly adjusted and McCarthy got skittish about continuing to have Jones on the field. It seems clear at this point that no running back in Green Bay is likely to see a large enough workload to warrant much fantasy value unless there are injuries. Jones has the highest ceiling of the backs and should be owned in leagues. However, he should be limited to a bye week flex play fill-in until his situation changes.--Tyger McGuiggan
