Aaron Judge, Yankees Avoid Arbitration
2 years agoThe New York Yankees and outfielder Aaron Judge agreed to a $19 million deal plus incentives for the 2022 season on Friday to avoid salary arbitration, according to a source. Judge can earn $250,000 for first place in the American League MVP voting and another $250,000 for World Series MVP this year. The 30-year-old slugger currently leads the AL MVP conversation and hit a walk-off single against the Houston Astros on Thursday. He's hitting an incredible .304/.379/.658 with 27 home runs, 53 RBI, 58 runs scored and five stolen bases so far this year. Judge was initially seeking $21 million in arbitration, while the Yankees countered with $17 million back in March. The right-handed slugger has said he wants to be a Yankee for life, and now the team has to feel much better about their chances of locking him up long-term.
