3 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Aaron Nola went six-plus innings, allowing four earned runs on four hits while striking out seven in the Phillies' 9-5 win over the Oakland Athletics on Friday. Nola would have had a quality start, and his line would have looked a lot better, but for the fact that he allowed three earned runs in the top of the seventh inning without recording an out. Nola is coming off a subpar season by his standards, having posted a 4.63 ERA in 180 2/3 innings over 32 starts in 2021. But Nola had a 3.37 xERA, 3.37 xFIP, and 3.26 SIERA, to go with a 29.8% strikeout rate which indicates he had some poor luck in 2021. Nola is a solid SP1 option for managers in all formats. He lines up to face the New York Mets at home on Wednesday in his next start.--Nick Ritrivi - RotoBaller
