Aaron Nola Tosses Complete-Game Shutout
2 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Aaron Nola was excellent on Thursday, tossing a complete-game shutout to help his club defeat the Reds 4-0. The right-hander struck out a season-high 11 batters while allowing just five hits and no walks in the 101-pitch effort. Nola cruised through the majority of the game and only ran into trouble in the ninth inning, when he stranded runners on second and third to end the contest. He now holds a sharp 3.08 ERA and 0.94 WHIP on the season to go along with a 185/22 K/BB through 166 2/3 innings pitched. Nola will look to keep his momentum going next week in a favorable road matchup versus the Diamondbacks.
