7 years agoCleveland Indians outfielder Abraham Almonte was optioned to minor league camp. Almonte, Francisco Mejia, Julian Merryweather, Shawn Morimando and Adam Plutko will all head to Triple-A while Bobby Bradley, Louis Head, Josh Martin and Adam Wilk were reassigned to minor league camp. Almonte was battling for a reserve outfield spot, and he'll basically still have that role, only one step below where he wanted it. He'll almost certainly receive major league playing time this season, but even if multiple injuries on the big club lead to a starting role for Almonte, he won't be worth much fantasy consideration. Mejia is a top catching prospect seen as Cleveland's catcher of the future, and he should see some playing time later this season as well.--David A Marcillo - RotoBaller
