Abraham Toro Traded To The Mariners
3 years agoHouston Astros infielder Abraham Toro and right-hander Joe Smith were traded to the Seattle Mariners in exchange for pitchers Kendall Graveman and Rafael Montero. Toro is under team control for four more seasons and will have a chance to be the Mariners every day starting third baseman. He is slashing .211/.287/.385 with six home runs, 20 RBI, 17 runs scored, and three stolen bases over 35 games in 2021. The trade should only help the 24-year-old's fantasy value as Astros' star third baseman Alex Bregman (hamstring) was expected to be activated soon. The former Astro should see an uptick in playing time and is worth rostering in deep-league formats. According to Jeff Passan of ESPN, "Toro has been on every nerd team's breakout list for the last three years."
