6 years agoKansas City Royals shortstop Adalberto Mondesi will bat behind Whit Merrifield on Opening Day against Carlos Rodon and the Chicago White Sox. Mondesi has a ton of fantasy hype surrounding him heading into the 2019 campaign. In 75 games last season, the 23-year-old had a .276 average to go along with 14 home runs, 37 RBI, and 32 stolen bases. Mondesi showed plate discipline throughout spring training, albeit in a small sample size, but a high strikeout rate is one of his biggest negatives. It is unlikely that he repeats the .335 BABIP that he produced last season, but even still, with his combination of speed and power he is a tantalizing fantasy asset. Mondesi is a worthwhile DFS play on Thursday against the inconsistent Rodon.--Raymond Harrison - RotoBaller
