4 years agoKansas City Royals shortstop Adalberto Mondesi (oblique) is expected to miss a couple of weeks, per manager Mike Matheny. Mondesi suffered an oblique strain during the team's final Cactus League game and was placed on the 10-day injured list, though Matheny indicated that it could take "at least a couple of weeks." The 25-year-old is in Kansas City, though he's shut down from most activity for the moment. It doesn't seem to be a serious oblique strain- though fantasy managers who invested early-round draft capital in the skilled base-stealer will have to make alternate plans on the waiver wire, perhaps for a bit longer than initially expected.--Tim Capurso
