4 years agoKansas City Royals shortstop Adalberto Mondesi (oblique) has gone to the team's Spring Training complex in Arizona to begin building up for a rehab assignment, according to Bill Ladson of MLB.com. Mondesi has yet to appear this season as he is working his way back from a right oblique strain he suffered late in Spring Training. Ladson reports that Mondesi is ready to taking batting practice while hitting right-handed, but is not yet ready to hit from the left side. Manager Mike Matheny said, "Mondi is going there and [getting] on his feet, [moving] around. They have a lot of people down there who could help him take that next step. He can get as many live swings from the right side as [he needs while] making progression on the left side. It's a good place for him to be right now." There's no timetable yet for Mondesi's return to Kansas City, but it's a step in the right direction, and managers should keep checking regularly for further developments on his rehab.--Michael Grennell - RotoBaller
