Adam Engel Had Surgery For Torn Labrum
3 years agoChicago White Sox outfielder Adam Engel (shoulder) said that he had offseason surgery on his left shoulder to fix a torn labrum, which required five suture anchors to be used. The recovery from surgery allowed him to rest his legs after he dealt with hamstring issues last year as well, and he felt that his ability to run at top speed returned quickly. Engel's conditioning program this winter was heavily focused on strengthening his hamstrings. The 30-year-old missed over a month in the second half of the season and wasn't fully healthy when he return. He finished with seven home runs, 18 RBI and seven steals in 123 at-bats to go with a .252/.336/.496 slash line. Engel should fill a part-time role in Chicago's outfield in 2022 and will only be attractive in deep mixed and AL-only leagues.
