4 years agoChicago White Sox outfielder Adam Engel (hamstring) had a minor setback and said he has had "four or five really good days in a row, making good progress." Engel is hopeful to return from a right hamstring strain for the teams next homestead starting on April 23. The White Sox have struggled in a major way on defense and Engel should be expected to slot into the left field spot upon his return. Engel offers his most value on defense, but hit .295 with three home runs as a platoon player in 2020. Engel's return is bad news for rookie first baseman/outfielder Andrew Vaughn. Vaughn surprisingly hasn't been getting much run for the White Sox and manager Tony La Russa has seemed to favor outfielder Nick Williams in left field with Eloy Jimenez (pectoral), Billy Hamilton (hamstring) and Engel sidelined. Engel doesn't offer much offensively and managers can leave him on the waiver wire.--Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller
