3 years agoPittsburgh Pirates second baseman Adam Frazier has been traded to the San Diego Padres, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. The Pirates are sending Frazier and cash considerations to San Diego, and will receive infielder Tucupita Marcano, outfielder Jack Suwinski and pitcher Michell Miliano. Marcano is the No. 5 overall prospect in the Padres system according to MLB Pipeline, and made his major league debut earlier this year where he slashed .182/.280/.205 over 25 games. With Frazier heading to San Diego, he will likely split time between second base and outfield, which will likely cause Jake Cronenworth to move to first base full-time and relegate Eric Hosmer to a bench bat. Hosmer's value was already low prior to this trade, and now his value will drop further. For the short term, it seems a good bet that the Pirates will run with Wilmer Difo as their second baseman going forward. This could make him a decent pick up off the waiver wire in deeper formats.--Michael Grennell - RotoBaller
