Adam Ottavino Gets Save Friday
3 years agoBoston Red Sox relief pitcher Adam Ottavino earned his ninth save of the season Friday night, as he walked one and struck out two of the four Cleveland batters he faced. With fellow reliever Matt Barnes struggling, the closer role is up for grabs, at least in the short term, and it would appear Ottavino is the man for the job. He now has a 3.51 ERA, a 1.40 WHIP, and 55 strikeouts in 51 1/3 innings. He doesn't get enough whiffs or do a good enough job limiting baserunners to be an elite fantasy reliever, but he'll be useful for as long as he gets save opportunities.
