7 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Adam Wainwright was placed on the 10-day disabled list on Sunday with right elbow inflammation. The move was made retroactive to April 20. Wainwright reportedly felt discomfort in his throwing arm during his last start and then felt it again during a bullpen session. The veteran righty had elbow surgery in the offseason and already spent some time on the DL to start the season, but he said himself that he doesn't expect to be out too long. Jack Flaherty is the most likely candidate to replace Wainwright in the rotation for as long as he's out.--David A Marcillo - RotoBaller
