3 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Adam Wainwright was solid in his National League Wild Card Game start against the Los Angeles Dodgers. He threw 5 1/3 innings, allowing just one run on four hits and two walks while striking out five. He seemed to get stronger as the night went along, and was allowed to hit with runners on base only to be lifted the very next inning after a swinging bunt single by Trea Turner. It was the first of several atrocious managerial decisions by Mike Schildt in a winner-take-all game. The 40-year-old Wainwright will be back for at least one more season in 2022, and showed that he had plenty left in the tank this season.--David A Marcillo - RotoBaller
