Addison Reed Might Not Reclaim Setup Role Soon
6 years agoMinnesota Twins reliever Addison Reed has pitched just once over the past eight days and told the media he felt "refreshed" after his short break from game action. Reed has posted a 9.45 ERA over his past seven outings, prompting the team to give him a small break and remove him from the setup role. Manager Paul Molitor told the press, “We’re just trying to reset him. He kind of went through a tough stretch of games there. I think sometimes you’ve just got to make a little adjustment on how you’re using a guy, and then you try to get him back on track.” It appears the team will keep Reed out of the setup role for the near future, which hurts his fantasy value for now. At the beginning of the season, many felt Reed would push current closer Fernando Rodney for save chances but that has not been the case this year. Rodney's hold on the ninth-inning role is as firm as ever.
