2 years agoBaltimore Orioles rookie catcher Adley Rutschman is behind the plate and is batting second on Friday against the New York Yankees and right-hander Jameson Taillon. It's the first time since Rutschman was called up from the minors that he's hit higher than cleanup in Baltimore's batting order. The 24-year-old switch-hitting backstop has gone only 36-for-162 (.222) in his first 46 big-league games, adding five home runs, 16 RBI, 25 runs scored and one stolen base. In 14 games in the month of July leading up to the All-Star break last week, Rutschman hit .227 (10-for-44) with two homers, two doubles, seven RBI and 10 runs scored. A more permanent move to the top of the O's lineup would only be good news for the young catcher.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
