7 years agoTexas Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre told Jeff Wilson of the Star-Telegram that he's considering acquiescing to spending more time serving as the designated hitter. This is music to fantasy owners' ears, as this would mean less time at the physically-demanding hot corner. Beltre will play most of the upcoming season at age 39, so anything that reduces the toll on his body is positive. The All-Star had an injury-riddled 2017 but showed no signs of aging at the plate. There is no reason to think that he can't continue to be a productive fantasy player in 2018. Beltre is currently going way too late in drafts, and news like this should encourage savvy owners that he's worth the modest investment.--Sean Scampton
