7 years agoTexas Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre's (hamstring) latest lower-body injury has him questioning how much longer he'll play in the big leagues. If he plays in 2019 he'll be 40 years old. “That brings the question of, ‘Is this going to keep happening more often? Is it worth it to fight it back? Is it a sign that maybe it’s time to get close to say goodbye to you guys?'" Beltre said. The future Hall of Famer has already been on the disabled list twice this year for the same hamstring and could be headed back there if he doesn't improve soon. He remains out on Thursday against the Angels. Beltre said he'll be re-evaluated in a couple days, but his hamstring problems are something he's been dealing with since he was 20 years old. His injury has been diagnosed as a Grade 2 strain. If he does go back on the DL, he expects to return when he's eligible or shortly thereafter. Despite the injuries and advanced age, Beltre has hit .278 with seven home runs and 41 RBI in 86 games. The power is notably down, but that's to be expected. The frequent injuries and drop in power make Beltre no longer a must-start fantasy player.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
