6 years agoAs usual when the New York Mets are facing a left-handed starting pitcher, first baseman Adrian Gonzalez is out, and Wilmer Flores is in against Gio Gonzalez and the Washington Nationals. Gonzalez has been solid overall but clearly doesn’t have a ton of pop left, as evidenced by his 30 percent fly-ball rate and 11.1 percent HR/FB. Flores, meanwhile, is always an intriguing DFS play against lefties. In 2017, he slashed .291/.309/.553 with seven home runs in only 110 plate appearances against southpaws. However, it is worth noting that he hasn’t found a ton of success against Gonzalez, as he’s hitting only .217 in 23 career at-bats against him with one home run.--John Smith
