Adrian Gonzalez Comes Up Big For Mets Again
7 years agoNew York Mets first baseman Adrian Gonzalez has very quietly been a solid performer 10 games into the season. Gonzalez continued playing well on Wednesday against the Miami Marlins, coming up with a huge pinch-hit two-run single in the eighth inning to give the Mets a 2-1 lead. It may be early, but Gonzalez is slashing .296/.406/.444 with a home run, four runs scored, and eight RBI 32 plate appearances into the season. His current .851 OPS would be his highest since 2011. We don’t expect that to last, of course, but it’s clear Gonzo isn’t the broken down old man we saw with the Los Angeles Dodgers last year. He doesn’t carry much power anymore, limiting him for fantasy purposes, but he still seems more than capable of producing with the bat in other ways.
