Adrian Sampson Slapped Around In Sunday's Home Start
6 years agoTexas Rangers starting pitcher Adrian Sampson was tuned up for seven earned runs, eight hits and two walks with four strikeouts across just four innings in a no-decision on Sunday against the Oakland Athletics. He managed to throw just 48 of his 78 pitches for strikes, and he served up a pair of home runs. However, the bullpen worked five scoreless frames and the offense rallied for four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning against reliever Joakim Soria to get Sampson off the hook for the loss. He stepped into the rotation for the injured Edinson Volquez (elbow), but he warrants very little in the way of fantasy consideration at this juncture. With a scheduled day off on Thursday, Sampson might not make another start until April 23.
