6 years agoTexas Rangers right-handed starting pitcher Adrian Sampson is expected to make the start against the Pittsburgh Pirates with an open spot in their rotation due to the injury to left-handed starting pitcher Drew Smyly (arm). Sampson is 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA and 14 strikeouts over 22 innings through two starts and four relief appearances. He had a quality start on April Fool's Day against the Astros in a hard-luck loss, allowing just one run and four hits over six innings. He has the potential to be a decent AL-only fantasy option at some point, but for now he is only worth a look in the very deepest of those formats until he stops yo-yoing between the 'pen and rotation.--Daniel Dobish
