2 years agoThe Washington Nationals placed shortstop Alcides Escobar (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday with a right hamstring strain and recalled infielder Luis Garcia from Triple-A Rochester in a corresponding move. Escobar was hitting .220/.264/.288 with no home runs, eight RBI and one steal in 35 games and wasn't a fantasy option in mixed leagues to begin with. Garcia, on the other hand, is more intriguing for fantasy purposes. He hit .242/.275/.411 with six home runs and 22 RBI in 70 games for the Nats last year and was slashing .314/.368/.531 with eight long balls and a steal in 193 plate appearances for Rochester. Garcia should be the team's primary option at shortstop with Escobar sidelined.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
