4 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies first/third base prospect Alec Bohm is the next major name that fans and owners are wondering about making the jump to the big league roster after Spencer Howard’s promotion for Sunday’s contest. Ranked as the No. 31 prospect in the Majors, Bohm showcased his advanced hitting tools during the Arizona Fall League in 2019 when he batted .361 and had eight extra-base hits in 19 games. The third overall pick in the ‘18 MLB Draft, Bohm doesn’t have a clear path to playing time, a point that manager Joe Girardi made as an explanation as to why the 24-year-old is not already up in the bigs. But Girardi also pointed out that Bohm was a player that the club had an eye on for aiding the offense in 2020, which remains a possibility should Jean Segura or Rhys Hoskins continue their early scuffles.--Jesse Borek
