Alec Pierce In The Concussion Protocol
2 years agoIndianapolis Colts head coach Frank Reich said that rookie wide receiver Alec Pierce (head) developed concussion symptoms after the tie in Week 1 to the Houston Texans and is now in the league's concussion protocol. The 22-year-old second-rounder took a huge hit in the game that bent his facemask. It remains to be seen if he'll be able to get cleared before the team's Week 2 contest against the Jacksonville Jaguars this Sunday. Pierce played 51 percent of the snaps in his NFL debut last Sunday failed to catch either of his two targets. If he is forced to sit this weekend, Michael Pittman Jr. and Parris Campbell will be the team's top two receivers, with Ashton Dulin, Dezmon Patmon and Mike Strachan battling for the No. 3 role. Pass-catching running back Nyheim Hines, who caught all six of his targets in the opener, could be used more as a receiver as well.
