7 years agoToronto Blue Jays shortstop Aledmys Diaz (back) is likely to return to the lineup Friday against the Rangers after being pulled from the game Tuesday against the White Sox with back spasms. Manager John Gibbons said Diaz was available to pinch hit Thursday, but he didn't get into the game. Diaz was an All-Star with the Cardinals in 2016, but he fell flat in a sophomore slump in 2017. However, he is 5-for-16 (.313) with a 1.125 OPS, two home runs, two doubles and four RBI in the early going for Toronto, and he should remain the regular at the 6 for a while with no return date in site for the injured Troy Tulowitzki. Diaz can be a sneaky good middle infielder for those in deep mixed and AL-only leagues if he keeps hitting like this.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
