4 years agoToronto Blue Jays catcher Alejandro Kirk will be on the club's opening day roster. The 22-year-old native of Mexico has never played above A-ball in the minor leagues but he's been a hitting machine everywhere that he's gone. Last season, he spent most of the year at the alternate training site but produced a 166 wRC+ in nine games with the Blue Jays. He hit well this spring, too, and was 7-for-24 (.292) with two home runs. The club has yet to address the status of Reese McGuire, a defensive expert who entered the spring as the favorite for the No. 2 slot behind presumed starter Danny Jansen. McGuire was just 3-for-19 (.158) this spring.--Marc Hulet - RotoBaller
