4 years agoThe Blue Jays' first-round selection from the 2019 draft, Alek Manoah, didn't sit around sulking when the 2020 minor league season was canceled. The 6-foot-6, 260-pound hurler spent a lot of time pitching against more advanced hitters and realized he couldn't always blow them away with his power offerings as he could with lower-level pro hitters. That led to an increased focus on developing his changeup, and more variations on how and where he throws both his fastball and his slider. Manoah says he also spent time picking the brains of hitters who had played at the MLB level. He's motivated to put in the work to get to the majors as quickly as possible.--Marc Hulet - RotoBaller
