3 years agoToronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Alek Manoah was superb in Wednesday's 10-2 win over the Angels, striking out 11 batters through 6 2/3 frames of work. The right-hander dominated his road start by allowing just five hits with his only blemish coming via a two-run homer by MVP front-runner Shohei Ohtani in the third. He did, however, run out of gas in the seventh by walking back-to-back batters with two outs before getting the hook with a career-high 114 pitches thrown. Manoah improved his record to 5-1 on the year while sporting an outstanding 2.59 ERA and 1.02 WHIP with 71 K through his first 59 big-league innings. The future is looking bright for the rookie who will look to take advantage of a depleted Nationals club on the road in his next start.--Riley Mrack - RotoBaller
