3 years agoToronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Alek Manoah struck out nine Rays in Friday's 7-1 loss, but he was unable to make it through four innings in the 88-pitch effort. The 23-year-old rookie was a bit in wild in this one, throwing just 48 pitches for strikes while walking three and beaning a pair of batters before getting the hook with two outs in the fourth. He managed to limit the damage to three runs (two earned) in what was a good test to work himself out of some tough jams. Manoah's future is looking bright despite a few growing pains this season as he takes a 2.90 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, and 52 K in 40 1/3 IP into the All-Star break.--Riley Mrack - RotoBaller
