Alex Cobb Allows One Unearned Run
2 years agoSan Francisco Giants starting pitcher Alex Cobb was terrific on Saturday, allowing one unearned run over 7 1/3 IP in the club's 2-1 win over the Brewers. Unfortunately for Cobb, he was saddled with a no-decision, but that doesn't take away from his 5/0 K/BB and four hits allowed in his 99-pitch effort. The veteran cruised until the eighth where a leadoff Hunter Renfroe double and error allowed him to score from third after Omar Narvaez hit a sacrifice fly right afterwards to end Cobb's night. Although his 4.09 ERA and 1.29 WHIP appear underwhelming, he's pitched to a 2.92 xFIP with 68 punchouts through 70 1/3 IP. Perhaps some better luck will come his way in the second half as we enter the All-Star break.
