Alex Cobb Rejects Cubs First Offer
7 years agoDavid Kaplan of NBC Sports Chicago reports that free-agent starting pitcher Alex Cobb rejected the Chicago Cubs three-year offer worth $42 million. Kaplan reports that Cobb is interested in the Cubs but was advised by his agent to turn down the offer. Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports has previously reported that Cobb is seeking a four-year year deal worth around $70 million. Cobb to the Cubs has been long rumored due to his connection to manager Joe Maddon and new pitching coach Jim Hickey. However, no matter how much both sides might want the other, money will always be a factor and Cobb has had no shortage of suitors thus far. Cobb did mention earlier in the offseason that he would consider less money if it meant being more comfortable and in a winning situation.
