Alex Cobb To Throw Light Session Monday
3 years agoSan Francisco Giants starting pitcher Alex Cobb (groin) continues to improve and plans to throw a light session off a mound on Monday. If he doesn't encounter any setbacks, he'll throw once more off a mound and then be re-evaluated for a potential return to the starting rotation. Cobb went on the injured list last Tuesday with a Grade 1 groin strain, but he's downplayed the severity of the issue and resumed playing catch on Friday. The 34-year-old right-hander is eligible to return from the IL on April 30, but it remains to be seen if that will happen. Cobb allowed five earned runs on 10 hits while walking two and striking out 14 in 9 1/3 innings in his first two starts of the season before injuring his groin.
